THE FORCADO RIVER (PATANI)

On the 21st day of June 2018, i took a tour to the Patani Forcado River. The primary objective of the visit was to underscore the activities going on around the river with a view of pointing out some SDG need area.

While on the sight tour, a lot of activities where seen going on around the Forcado river which could be characterized as the god, the bad and the ugly.

The good aspect of the characteristics where the on going activities of the local fishermen and the people around enjoying the cool evening breeze.

On the other hand, some adults and children where seen bathing around and inside the river and washing of clothes. The residence around the river also uses it as their waste disposal ground which include liquid waste from the kitchen and human body waste (feases). The river also serves as a source of water for the locals which could be described as an unhealthy water.

Having seen all these, the activities calls for an urgent call to action to address some of these issues which poses a threat both to human, sea life and environmental issues.

Thus the need to:

1. Alternative fish farming practice for sustainable socio-economic and aqua life conservation

2. Waste management an imperative for environmental conservation and life in the Farcoda river

3. Portable and Healthy water supply for the rive-rine settlers.
